Coach Kara's Meet Message
For our first test run of a meet for the new season I think that the kids did a phenomenal job! I was jumping for joy when I saw most of our younger kids doing their stroke count correctly for backstroke without running into the wall! They have been listening at practice and making changes, YAY! I also want to shout out the swimmers for remembering and practicing (with a little guidance from us coaches on the sidelines) great sportsmanship; waiting for their entire heat to finish before exiting the water. This is such a huge deal! Looking at the results we had a TON of kids dropping time from their best times last season. I would list them all individually but we have too many kids (not complaining, I love them all!). This is a huge accomplishment because these kids are working so hard. Dropping time is a big deal and regardless of how you "place" at a swim meet, improving time is something to celebrate! Age Group Swimmers of the Week: 6 & Unders: Micah Hilton, Mary Caroline Walker 7-8: James Drum, Lucy Eaddy (time drops from both) 9-10: Blake Whipkey, Blaire Warren (dropping time for both) 11-12: ALL OF THE BOYS! moving from 9-10 to 11-12 is one of the hardest transitions for summer swimmers because they go from 25s to 50s. All of these boys pushed through last night and all but 1 of these boys are 11. 13-14: Elijah Schauer (taking a season off and returning with time drops), Isabella Maggiano (brand new, attends almost all if not all practices and I haven't scared her away yet, ha!) 15-18: Austin Harrington (brand new and listens to feedback to improve), Eva Le Chatelier (returned to swim and doing great! 15-18 is a tough age group)
